The National Water Supply and Drainage Board has suspended water delivery to multiple areas in Colombo and Gampaha districts following a water quality incident near the Kelani River intake facility.
The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) has temporarily halted water supply to several areas across the Colombo and Gampaha districts due to concerns regarding water quality at the Kelani River intake point. According to the NWSDB, the suspension affects water from both the Ambatale and Kelani South Water Treatment Plants, which serve these regions.
The decision to cut supplies came following notification from the Disaster Management Centre (DMC), indicating that an urgent situation had developed that required immediate action. The NWSDB acknowledged the disruption caused to residents and consumers in the affected areas, expressing regret for the inconvenience.
