The National Water Supply and Drainage Board has notified residents of planned water interruptions affecting multiple areas in the Colombo and Kalutara districts on August 4 and 5, with some regions experiencing outages lasting up to 16 hours.

The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) has announced a series of scheduled water supply interruptions that will affect numerous residential and commercial areas across the Colombo and Kalutara districts on August 4 and continuing into August 5. The maintenance work will be carried out in phases throughout the day and evening, requiring residents and businesses to prepare in advance.

The disruptions are concentrated in two main time slots. Morning and early afternoon interruptions lasting five hours will affect Moratuwa, Panadura, and several surrounding localities between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The affected Moratuwa zone encompasses 17 specific streets and areas, while Panadura disruptions will impact five localities including Kiriberiya and Keselwatta.

Longer interruptions are scheduled for other regions. Bandaragama will experience the most extended outage, with water supply halted for 12 hours from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., affecting Bandaragama and six surrounding areas. Evening interruptions lasting five hours, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., will affect Horana, Kumbuka, and Ingiriya zones. Piliyandala faces the longest disruption of 16 hours, extending from 4:00 p.m. on August 4 until 8:00 a.m. on August 5, impacting 11 localities including Kesbewa and Polgasowita.

The NWSDB has urged affected consumers to make adequate water storage arrangements prior to the scheduled interruptions. Residents are advised to fill containers and tanks in preparation for the supply breaks.
