An ‘Amber’ advisory has been issued by the Department of Meteorology for strong winds affecting the Central, Sabaragamuwa, North-central and North-western provinces and in Monaragala, Hambantota, Trincomalee and Mannar districts.The advisory, issued at 11.00 a.m. today (13), will remain in effect until 11.00 a.m. tomorrow (14).According to the Meteorology Department, strong winds of about 40–50 kmph can be expected at times over the Central, Sabaragamuwa, North-central and North-western provinces and in Monaragala, Hambantota, Trincomalee and Mannar districts due to the active south-west monsoonal conditions.The public has been requested to remain vigilant and pay attention to further advisories issued by the Department of Meteorology.
