Police have apprehended a 31-year-old woman at Rathmalana Beach in possession of over 120,000 millilitres of contraband alcohol. The suspect is scheduled to appear before court.
A 31-year-old woman has been taken into custody by the Mount Lavinia Divisional Crime Investigation Bureau following the discovery of illicit liquor in her possession at Rathmalana Beach. Officers seized approximately 120,000 millilitres of the contraband substance, which authorities have valued at roughly Rs. 1.6 million.
The suspect, who is from Perera Mawatha in the Koralawella area of Moratuwa, was arrested under the direct supervision of the Officer-in-Charge of the Mount Lavinia Divisional Crime Investigation Bureau. Following her arrest, she was transferred to Mount Lavinia Police Station for processing.
The woman is expected to be presented before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate's Court in connection with the charges relating to the possession and distribution of illicit liquor.
