Woman dies after wild elephant attack in Laggala

A 45-year-old woman has succumbed to her injuries after being attacked by a wild elephant in the Kivulawadiya area of the Laggala Police Division, police said.The incident had occurred last night (11), when the woman was reportedly on her way to a nearby house.She had sustained serious injuries in the attack and was admitted to the Laggala Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.The deceased has been identified as a 45-year-old resident of the Kivulawadiya area, police said.Laggala Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are conducting further inquiries.
