During a special coastal security operation conducted by the Sri Lanka Navy in the White Beach area of Delft Island, Jaffna, a large quantity of foreign goods suspected of being smuggled into the country have been seized. The Navy stated that the rescue operation took place during a special patrol conducted yesterday (24) by naval personnel from SLNS Wasapa Camp operating under the Northern Naval Command. The Navy, which inspected six sacks that had been abandoned suspiciously in the White Beach area, recovered 500 packets of foreign cigarettes, 2,295 packets of disinfectants, 2,569 medical ointments, 165 cosmetic creams and 64 perfume bottles from them. The Sri Lanka Navy stated that all the seized items have been handed over to the Delft Island Police Station for further investigation and legal action.
