A Colombo Magistrate's Court has directed Yoshitha Rajapaksa, son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, and former Navy Commander Wasantha Karannagoda to appear before the Colombo High Court following a corruption complaint.

The Colombo Magistrate's Court has ordered Yoshitha Rajapaksa and Wasantha Karannagoda to appear before the Colombo High Court after receiving notices, according to a decision made by Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama on Wednesday.

The directive emerged during court proceedings concerning a complaint filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) against the two individuals. Both Rajapaksa, the son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, and the retired military official were present during the hearing.

Following consideration of submissions presented by the Bribery Commission, the magistrate issued the order directing the defendants to appear in the higher court. The case now proceeds to the High Court for further proceedings.
