JAT Holdings PLC marked a significant achievement at the seventh JAT Pintharu Abhiman Convocation by introducing National Vocational Qualification Level 4 certifications for painters. Of the 120 painters who received qualifications at the event, 14 obtained the advanced NVQ Level 4 certification while 106 received NVQ Level 3 certifications. This represents the first time the programme has awarded Level 4 qualifications since its establishment in 2021.
The new NVQ Level 4 pathway represents a professional advancement beyond Level 3, which certifies competency in wood finishing. Level 4 qualifications recognize more sophisticated trade capabilities and include knowledge in project execution and business administration, enabling experienced painters to progress toward more complex work and develop stronger commercial foundations. JAT Holdings facilitates the entire assessment and certification process while covering associated costs, thereby reducing financial and time barriers that painters might otherwise face in obtaining formal recognition.
The certification programme operates through a partnership with the National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority (NAITA) and the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission. The convocation was attended by H. Abdul Saththar, Chairman of NAITA, alongside senior police and JAT Holdings leadership. Since its launch, JAT Pintharu Abhiman has supported 888 painters in obtaining internationally recognized vocational qualifications. According to research cited by the organisation, approximately one in five certified painters has subsequently established their own business, while participants have reported increased confidence and improved living standards.
Beyond certification, the programme provides island-wide technical education to painters in areas including product knowledge and industry developments. JAT Holdings estimates it has reached more than 100,000 painters through broader engagement initiatives. A complimentary eye health camp operated by Durdans Hospital was offered to convocation attendees as part of the programme's focus on painter wellbeing alongside professional development.
