The Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education has begun accepting applications for the 11th phase of the Interest-Free Student Loan Scheme, which will support student enrollment for the 2026/2027 academic cycle. The application window runs from August 17 to September 27, 2026.
To qualify, applicants must have sat the G.C.E. Advanced Level examination in 2023, 2024, or 2025, achieving a minimum of three simple passes across three subjects. Additionally, candidates need at least a simple pass in English at either Advanced or Ordinary Level, and must score a minimum of 30 marks in the Common General Test. Age eligibility is capped at 25 years as of the September 27 closing date.
The scheme encompasses over 129 degree programs across 16 degree-awarding institutions throughout the country. The programs span diverse academic disciplines, including engineering technology, information technology, natural sciences, commerce, and humanities and arts. Through this initiative, the government aims to reduce financial barriers to higher education for qualifying students.
