A professional medical association has contributed six intensive care monitors to the Ministry of Health, with the donation aimed at supporting the country's healthcare infrastructure.
The Colombo 75 Medics Association, comprising approximately 120 physicians from the 1975 graduating class of the University of Colombo's Faculty of Medicine, has presented six ICU monitors valued at Rs. 1.7 million to the Ministry of Health. The handover took place at the Ministry premises, with Association President Professor Harendra de Silva formally transferring the equipment to Health Minister Nalinda Jayatissa.
The organisation allocated funds specifically earmarked for medical service improvements in communities impacted by the Ditwa emergency to finance the donation. According to the Ministry, the equipment will strengthen the country's healthcare capacity, particularly in critical care settings.
The Colombo 75 Medics Association has maintained a track record of community-focused health initiatives since its establishment. Health Minister Jayatissa acknowledged the contribution, commending both the material donation and the association's broader commitment to public service within the medical field.
