Sri Lanka's Health Ministry has initiated efforts to resolve disputes regarding official uniforms worn by Muslim female nursing officers, holding a special parliamentary meeting with Muslim and Tamil lawmakers to discuss the matter.
The Health Ministry convened a special meeting chaired by the Health Minister at the Parliamentary complex to address concerns surrounding the official uniforms of Muslim female nursing officers at Kalmunai Hospital and other healthcare facilities. The discussion included participation from Muslim and Tamil government members of parliament, reflecting the sensitive nature of the issue.
During the meeting, attendees emphasized the importance of identifying both immediate and enduring solutions that would allow hospitals to operate effectively while protecting the rights of the nursing officers involved. The participants stressed the need for a peaceful and practical approach that would maintain harmony among all stakeholders.
Following the discussions, the Health Minister committed to implementing short-term measures to address the immediate concerns. Additionally, the ministry pledged to develop and introduce a comprehensive long-term solution designed to prevent similar issues from emerging in the future.
