The University of Peradeniya has halted all academic activities and examinations due to adverse weather, while permitting students to remain in hostels if travel is unsafe.

The University of Peradeniya announced a suspension of all academic activities and scheduled examinations effective immediately, citing dangerous weather conditions as the primary reason for the decision. The university administration stated that the measure prioritizes the safety and wellbeing of both students and staff members across the institution.

According to the university's guidance, students who can safely travel have been encouraged to return to their homes during the period of suspension. However, those unable to make the journey due to the inclement weather are permitted to remain in their designated hostels, provided they notify hostel administrators of their decision to stay. The university noted one exception to this arrangement: residents of Sarasavi Medura Hostel are not permitted to remain on campus during this period.

Despite the suspension of academic functions, the University of Peradeniya confirmed that all essential services will continue to operate normally throughout the weather emergency. This ensures that critical campus infrastructure and support systems remain functional for those present on the grounds.
