Sri Lankan authorities have initiated investigations into properties belonging to 25 major criminals involved in organized crime and drug trafficking, with several prohibition orders already issued against illegally acquired assets.

The Illegal Assets Investigation Division of the Police Department has begun comprehensive investigations into properties linked to 25 organized crime and drug trafficking suspects, according to statements from police officials. The operation targets both individuals currently abroad and those who have been apprehended and brought back to Sri Lanka.

Among those under investigation is Shiran Basik, a significant drug trafficker who was recently arrested and held in custody. Police have already secured prohibition orders against multiple properties registered in his son's name, preventing their sale or transfer. The investigation also extends to properties owned by other major criminal figures including Kosgoda Suji, Rathgama Vidura, Ratmalane Saima, and Kanjipani Imran.

Police have indicated that their investigations will focus on tracing assets believed to have been acquired through illegal activities. Once their inquiries are complete, authorities plan to present their findings to the courts and pursue appropriate legal action to recover these illegally obtained properties. The operation represents an effort to dismantle the financial networks that support organized crime operations in the country.
