A dramatic roadside encounter between a pedestrian and a wild elephant was averted through the swift action of a lorry driver, according to footage circulating on social media. The incident occurred in Dambulla, where a man was walking along the roadside when the elephant approached from behind.
Upon noticing the situation, the lorry driver slowed the vehicle and maneuvered it between the elephant and the pedestrian, effectively creating a barrier. The intervention appeared to prevent the animal from advancing further, enabling the man to reach safety.
