Russian carrier S7 Airlines will launch a new twice-weekly service connecting Novosibirsk in Siberia to Colombo starting in December 2026, offering direct air access between the two regions for the first time.
S7 Airlines, a Russian carrier, plans to commence operations on a new international route linking Novosibirsk's Tolmachevo Airport with Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo from 20 December 2026, according to Aviation Voice Asia. The service represents the airline's expansion into South Asian markets and will provide Russian travelers with direct access to Sri Lanka's tourist destinations.
The airline will operate the route twice weekly, with flights scheduled for Thursdays and Sundays. Departures from Novosibirsk are set for 5:15 am on Thursdays and 5:00 am on Sundays, with arrivals in Colombo at 1:40 pm. The return journey departs Colombo at 2:50 pm, reaching Novosibirsk at approximately 2:15 am the following day.
The approximately 10-hour journey will include a technical refueling stop in Jaipur, India, where passengers will remain aboard the aircraft. S7 Airlines has already begun ticket sales for the new route, signaling the airline's commitment to establishing a regular service between the Siberian region and Sri Lanka. The route is expected to facilitate tourism to popular beach destinations including Hikkaduwa, Bentota, and Trincomalee.
