Sri Lanka's Colombo Stock Exchange remained largely unchanged on Tuesday, with the benchmark index declining marginally while selective stocks posted gains and losses across key sectors.

The Colombo Stock Exchange concluded Tuesday trading with minimal movement, as the All Share Price Index (ASPI) fell 14.67 points to close at 21,402.80, representing a 0.07 percent decline. In contrast, the more actively traded S&P SL20 index showed slight positive momentum, gaining 2.12 points to reach 5,987.61, up 0.04 percent.

Among gainers, Hatton National Bank led with a 0.79 percent increase to 383.00 rupees, while Richard Pieris and Company posted a more substantial 3.68 percent gain at 28.20 rupees. Browns Investments and Access Engineering also registered modest advances of 1.96 percent and 0.80 percent respectively. On the downside, SANASA Development Bank experienced the largest decline, falling 6.23 percent to 49.70 rupees, followed by Dialog Axiata and John Keells Holdings, which dropped 0.89 percent and 0.50 percent respectively.

Market activity totaled 1.52 billion rupees in turnover. Diversified financials dominated trading volumes at 175 million rupees, with the banking sector following closely behind at 170.2 million rupees. Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka & Finance issued a clarification regarding its rights issue, correcting the subscription level for additional shares to 333,951 from a previously announced 233,951 shares. The bank's shares closed 4.76 percent higher at 11.00 rupees.
