Three people died in three distinct traffic incidents reported across different regions of Sri Lanka on Wednesday, with authorities investigating each case.

Three individuals lost their lives in separate road accidents reported across Sri Lanka on Wednesday (29th), according to police statements. The incidents occurred in geographically distinct locations and involved different types of vehicles.

In the first incident on the Biyagama-Sapugaskanda Road near Samurdhi Mawatha, a cab driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the roadway. The cab struck two children walking along the left side of the road. Both sustained serious injuries and were transported to Kiribathgoda Hospital, where one of them was pronounced dead. The deceased was identified as a 15-year-old from Gonawala. The cab driver has been taken into custody, with Sapugaskanda Police investigating the circumstances.

The second fatal accident occurred on the Galle-Colombo Road in the Egodamulla area. A private bus travelling toward Galle hit a pedestrian who was crossing the roadway. The pedestrian was rushed to Balapitiya Hospital with severe injuries but died shortly after arrival. The victim was a 50-year-old resident of Egodamulla. The bus operator has been arrested, and Ahungalla Police are investigating.

A third fatal collision took place on the Trincomalee-Ambeppussa Road near the 179-kilometre marker in the Thambalagamuwa Police Division. A lorry and a motorcycle travelling in opposite directions collided, resulting in fatal injuries to the motorcyclist. The deceased was a 24-year-old from the Thambalagamuwa area. The lorry driver has been arrested pending investigation by Thambalagamuwa Police.
