A 15-year-old boy was killed and another child seriously injured when a cab veered off the Biyagama-Sapugaskanda Road in Sapugaskanda on Saturday evening.

A fatal accident claimed the life of a teenage boy in the Sapugaskanda area on Saturday when a cab lost control and struck two children walking along the roadside. The incident occurred near Samurdhi Mawatha on the Biyagama-Sapugaskanda Road when the vehicle, traveling toward Sapugaskanda, departed from its lane and hit the pedestrians who were on the sandy shoulder of the road.

Both children were transported to Kiribathgoda Hospital with serious injuries. The 15-year-old resident of Gonawala was pronounced dead at the hospital, while the second child sustained critical injuries that required further treatment at the National Hospital in Colombo.

The cab driver has been taken into custody by authorities in connection with the accident. The Sapugaskanda Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances that led to the vehicle veering off the road.
