Police have announced temporary traffic restrictions across multiple areas in Gothatuwa today as the Sri Suramyarama Purana Viharaya prepares to conduct its Esala Maha Perahera procession.

Authorities have implemented traffic restrictions in several Gothatuwa localities to facilitate the Esala Maha Perahera of the Sri Suramyarama Purana Viharaya in Madinnagoda, which takes place today. The religious procession is scheduled to commence at 6:30 p.m., with traffic management measures being put in place along the designated route.

The perahera will originate from the Madinnagoda Sri Suramyarama Viharaya and follow a planned route through multiple areas. The procession will move via Mahaniyara junction along the 175 bus route, continue through Buthgamuwa Road and Ambagaha Junction, and proceed to Kotuwegoda before reaching Rajagiriya. From there, it will travel along Medawelikada Road and Madinnagoda, passing through M.D.H. Jayawardena Mawatha before returning to the temple.

Motor vehicle users are advised to avoid the affected roads during the procession hours and utilize alternative routes to minimize disruption. The Police Department has issued the traffic advisory to ensure smooth passage of the religious event while maintaining public convenience.
