Three people have died in unrelated homicides in Tangalle, Anuradhapura, and Galle, with police attributing the incidents to escalated personal and group disputes.
Three fatal incidents have been recorded across different districts of Sri Lanka, each stemming from distinct circumstances. In the Mahagoda area of Tangalle, a 35-year-old man died after being struck with a club following a heated verbal confrontation. Police have taken a 28-year-old suspect into custody in connection with the killing.
A separate homicide occurred in the Korakahawewa tank reservation area of Anuradhapura, where a 60-year-old woman from Ulukkulama was fatally attacked with a sharp weapon. According to police, the victim's husband committed the act during a personal dispute that had escalated. The suspect sustained injuries during the incident and has been hospitalized.
The third death took place during a group clash in the Galwala area of Galle. A 24-year-old local resident was killed with a sharp weapon in what police described as an altercation rooted in longstanding tensions between two groups. Two other individuals involved in the confrontation were injured and admitted to Galle Hospital. Police have arrested two suspects, aged 19 and 29, in relation to this incident.
All three incidents appear to have involved disputes that deteriorated into violence. Authorities are continuing investigations into each case.
