Engineers from Sri Lanka and India have jointly finished constructing a Bailey Bridge in Kurunegala, completing the three-day project on August 24.
A collaborative effort between Sri Lankan and Indian military engineers has resulted in the completion of a new Bailey Bridge in Kurunegala's Kaballawa Bridge area. The 100-foot structure, measuring 17 feet in width, was constructed by personnel from the 1st Sri Lanka Engineers unit working alongside the Indian Army Engineer Task Force.
The construction process began on August 22 and concluded on August 24, marking a rapid completion of the infrastructure project. According to the Department of Government Information, the bridge is designed to enhance regional connectivity and facilitate easier movement for local residents in the area.
The project has been highlighted as a demonstration of technical capability and professional collaboration between the two nations' military engineering units. Officials characterised the successful completion as evidence of strong cooperation and shared expertise between the Sri Lanka Army Engineers and their Indian counterparts.
