The Aadi Vel Festival, commonly called the Addivel Chariot Festival, recently took place with the ceremonial chariot proceeding through Colombo's streets to reach the New Kathiresan Temple in Bambalapitiya.
The Annual Aadi Vel Festival, widely recognised as the Addivel Chariot Festival, proceeded through a planned route in recent weeks, with the ceremonial chariot making its way along Galle Road toward its final destination at the New Kathiresan Temple located in Bambalapitiya.
During the procession, the chariot made a scheduled stop at the Seylan Bank Head Office. According to the Daily FT, management and staff members at the banking institution received the visiting chariot with hospitality, organising a special religious pooja blessing ceremony for the occasion.
As part of their participation in the festival, Seylan Bank staff distributed refreshments and sweets to devotees gathered at the venue. The bank's involvement reflected what was described as a commitment to inclusivity and creating meaningful communal moments during the religious celebration.
