The Welfare Benefits Board has announced that July payments under the 'Aswesuma' scheme for citizens aged over 70 will be credited to beneficiary accounts on July 31, totalling approximately 3.49 billion rupees.

The Welfare Benefits Board has confirmed that beneficiaries of the 'Aswesuma' senior citizen welfare programme will receive their July 2026 allowances through bank transfers beginning tomorrow. The announcement indicates that the distribution process has been finalised and payments are set to reach recipients' accounts on schedule.

The payment distribution encompasses two distinct phases of the scheme. Under the first phase, Rs. 3.11 billion will be distributed among 621,638 senior citizens over 70 years of age. The second phase will see Rs. 386.62 million credited to 77,324 beneficiaries in the same age bracket. In total, nearly 699,000 eligible recipients across both phases will receive their July payments.

The combined allocation of Rs. 3.49 billion represents the monthly outlay for the programme during this cycle. According to the Welfare Benefits Board, all eligible beneficiaries can expect to access their allowances through their respective bank accounts from tomorrow onwards. The 'Aswesuma' scheme continues to function as a direct payment mechanism for senior citizens, with funds transferred electronically to streamline distribution and ensure timely receipt of benefits.
