A devastating collision between a bus and truck on Brazil's BR-373 highway in Paraná state has resulted in at least 21 deaths, according to a statement from road operator Via Araucária on Wednesday. All fatalities were passengers aboard the bus, while four additional individuals sustained injuries in the incident.
The accident occurred on a major transport route in the southern Brazilian state, leaving the roadway completely impassable. Via Araucária reported that clearing efforts were underway, though no timeline for reopening the highway was immediately available.
The bus involved in the crash was reportedly operated by the municipal health department of Imbituva, a city of approximately 30,000 residents located roughly 180 kilometres west of Paraná's capital, Curitiba. Despite inquiries, local authorities have not yet provided official confirmation or additional details regarding the incident.
