Sri Lanka's Cabinet has granted approval for printing and distribution contracts for seven National Lottery Board lottery brands over a one-year period, with two companies selected as the lowest bidders.
The Cabinet of Ministers has authorized the awarding of contracts to print, supply and distribute computer-based lottery tickets for the National Lottery Board across seven different lottery brands. The contracts, valued at Rs. 580 million combined, follow a competitive bidding process conducted under national procurement guidelines.
The National Lottery Board had solicited bids for tickets under seven lottery schemes: Govisetha, NLB Handahana, Mega Power, Dhana Nidhana, NLB Jaya, Ada Sampatha and Suba Direka. Five bids were received through the National Competitive Bidding procedure. Following evaluations by the High Level Procurement Committee and the Procurement Appeal Board, Cabinet approval was granted to award contracts to the lowest bidders in each category.
The Government Printing Corporation will handle four of the lottery brands, with Govisetha allocated Rs. 103.42 million, NLB Handahana at Rs. 91.30 million, Mega Power at Rs. 88.22 million, and Dhana Nidhana at Rs. 73.16 million. Ceylon Business Appliances (Private) Ltd. will manage the remaining three brands: NLB Jaya at Rs. 83.36 million, Ada Sampatha at Rs. 67.80 million, and Suba Direka at Rs. 72.86 million. All figures are stated excluding value-added tax.
The proposal was submitted to Cabinet by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, acting in his capacity as Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development.
