A Cessna 441 charter aircraft operated by Security Aviation crashed near Cape Newenham in western Alaska on Thursday, killing all eight people on board.

A charter plane operated by Anchorage-based Security Aviation crashed near a remote military radar installation in western Alaska on Thursday, resulting in eight fatalities, according to the U.S. military's Alaskan Command.

The Cessna 441 went down west of Cape Newenham Long Range Radar Site Airport at approximately 12:15 p.m. local time, according to a Federal Aviation Administration spokesperson. The aircraft had departed from Anchorage International Airport with Cape Newenham as its intended destination.

Cape Newenham is part of Alaska's network of remote radar facilities responsible for monitoring aircraft movements throughout the state's airspace and along its borders. The exact cause of the crash has not yet been disclosed.
