The Indian batting lineup, which resumed at 460 for nine wickets, managed to add only two additional runs before losing their final wicket, with Sri Lankan bowler Asitha Fernando claiming the last dismissal of Prasidh Krishna.
Devdutt Padikkal was the standout performer for India, anchoring the innings with a commanding unbeaten knock of 167 runs. His contribution formed the backbone of India's first-innings total. Additional valuable contributions came from KL Rahul, who scored 82 runs, and Dhruv Jurel, who added 51 runs to the team's effort.
Sri Lanka's bowling attack proved effective throughout the innings, with left-arm spinner Prabath Jayasuriya emerging as the leading bowler with four wickets for 109 runs. Keshara Nuwantha supported the effort with three wickets for 175 runs, while Asitha Fernando contributed two wickets for 63 runs. The second day of the Test had seen minimal play, as persistent rainfall resulted in the cancellation of the first two sessions.
