Sri Lanka will be without three key batsmen for the second Test against India due to injuries, compounding the team's difficulties after losing the opening match.

Sri Lanka's batting lineup has been significantly weakened ahead of the second Test against India, according to head coach Gary Kirsten. The team will be without Kusal Mendis, Dinesh Chandimal, and Pathum Nissanka, all of whom are unavailable due to injury-related concerns.

Mendis and Nissanka were absent from the first Test in Galle, with the former recovering from a hamstring injury and the latter sidelined by a wrist problem. The situation has deteriorated further with the addition of Chandimal, who sustained a concussion during the opening match and is now ruled out of the upcoming fixture.

The simultaneous unavailability of these three established batsmen has left Sri Lanka with restricted options as they prepare for the second Test, scheduled to begin at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo on August 23. India currently leads the two-match series after securing a 165-run victory in the first Test, placing additional pressure on the home team to respond effectively despite their depleted squad.
