A new cultural and business festival scheduled for November 1 in Auckland will aim to strengthen ties between Sri Lanka and New Zealand through showcasing local businesses, tourism, and cultural offerings.
A press conference held at The Kingsbury Hotel in Colombo yesterday announced the inaugural Lankan Fest New Zealand 2026, set to take place on November 1 in Auckland. The event will serve as a platform for Sri Lankan businesses, tourism operators, and cultural representatives to connect with New Zealand audiences and establish commercial partnerships.
New Zealand High Commissioner David Pine endorsed the initiative, expressing hope that it would become a recurring fixture on the bilateral calendar. He praised the organisers, Krystal Events New Zealand and their partner Home Lands, for bringing the concept to fruition and noted the event's potential to highlight Sri Lanka's cultural attractions and appeal to the wider New Zealand public.
Nishantha Ariyawansa, organiser of the festival and founder of Krystal Events New Zealand, described the event as a significant opportunity for bilateral engagement. According to Ariyawansa, the festival will create channels for New Zealand businesses to promote Sri Lanka while simultaneously enabling Sri Lankan enterprises to establish connections within the New Zealand market.
The festival is designed to integrate multiple dimensions of Sri Lankan society, including cultural performances, entertainment, tourism promotion, and community engagement, all concentrated in a single platform. Organisers anticipate the event will generate momentum for sustained business development and people-to-people exchange between the two nations.
