Sri Lanka's Inland Revenue Department has reminded taxpayers to settle their advance and withholding tax obligations for July by August 15, 2026, with late payments subject to penalties.
The Inland Revenue Department has issued a notice urging taxpayers to complete their tax payments for July 2026 within the next two days. The deadline applies to three categories of tax obligations: Advance Income Tax, Withholding Tax on interest, and Advance Personal Income Tax, all due by August 15, 2026.
Taxpayers have multiple payment options available to meet the deadline. The IRD has designated the Online Tax Payment Platform as the primary channel for submissions, while traditional payments can also be made at branches of the Bank of Ceylon and People's Bank. The department has encouraged use of the digital platform to expedite transactions and reduce processing delays.
The IRD has warned that any payments received after the deadline will be classified as late tax payments and may result in financial penalties. Each tax category has been assigned specific codes for processing purposes: AIT and WHT on interest uses Tax Type Code 43, AIT and WHT on fees uses Code 44, and APIT uses Code 03, all with Payment Period Code 26070. The department has stressed the importance of timely compliance to ensure smooth administration of tax obligations and to help taxpayers avoid unnecessary financial consequences.
