Sri Lankan left-hander Sonal Dinusha has reached his first Test century during the opening match against India at Galle International Cricket Stadium.
Sonal Dinusha, the 25-year-old Sri Lankan batter, achieved a significant milestone by scoring his maiden Test century against India at the Galle International Cricket Stadium. Playing in only his fourth Test appearance, Dinusha reached the three-figure mark off 167 deliveries while striking four boundaries and two sixes during his innings.
The left-hander's century came during a crucial phase of Sri Lanka's first innings, as the home team looked to build momentum following India's substantial first-innings total. Dinusha's partnership with wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella proved particularly valuable, as the pair combined for a 146-run stand for the sixth wicket that helped stabilise Sri Lanka's batting position.
At the time of the achievement, Sri Lanka had accumulated 274 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their first innings. This follows India's first-innings score of 462 runs, which they compiled after winning the toss and electing to bat first in the opening Test of the series.
