The UAE claimed the sole qualification slot from the Asia Qualifier after narrowly defeating Malaysia by one run in the final, maintaining an unbeaten record throughout the tournament held in Kuala Lumpur.
The UAE women's under-19 cricket team has qualified for the 2027 Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup after edging out Malaysia by a single run in the final of the Asia Qualifier in Kuala Lumpur. The victory secured the only available spot from the eight-team regional tournament, allowing UAE to join 15 other teams at next year's World Cup.
In a tightly contested final, the UAE managed a modest total of 95 runs before their bowling attack proved decisive in restricting Malaysia. Al Maseera Jahangir was instrumental in the victory, claiming 2 for 12 with the ball and scoring 31 runs with the bat, earning her the Player of the Match award. The UAE reached the final undefeated after wins against Hong Kong China, Malaysia, and Qatar in the group stage, followed by a semi-final victory over Bhutan.
UAE captain Mehak Thakur expressed satisfaction with her team's composure under pressure. "I'm so pleased by how well our team dealt with the pressure in this final which led to our win," she stated, adding that the squad looked forward to competing in the World Cup. This represents a notable achievement for UAE, who had missed qualification for the 2025 edition but were part of the inaugural tournament in 2023.
Separately, Samoa also secured qualification for the 2027 tournament after winning the East Asia-Pacific Qualifier in Papua New Guinea this week. Samoa similarly completed the tournament undefeated, defeating Fiji, Indonesia, Vanuatu, and Papua New Guinea. This marks Samoa's second consecutive under-19 T20 World Cup appearance.
