Sri Lanka's Department of Meteorology has warned of strong winds affecting several provinces through tomorrow morning, with gusts expected to reach 40-50 kmph due to active monsoon conditions.
The Department of Meteorology has issued an amber-level advisory for hazardous wind conditions affecting multiple regions of Sri Lanka. The warning, which took effect on September 4th, remains active until 11:30 a.m. on September 5th.
The advisory applies to the North-Central, North-Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Southern provinces, as well as the Trincomalee district. Residents in these areas should expect wind speeds of approximately 40 to 50 kilometres per hour at various times throughout the advisory period.
According to the Department of Meteorology, the strong winds are attributed to active south-west monsoon conditions currently affecting the island. The public has been instructed to remain alert and monitor official weather updates as the situation develops. Authorities have urged vigilance and adherence to any further advisories that may be issued.
