The opening Randoli Perahera of the historic Kandy Esala Perahera festival will commence this evening, with authorities implementing special traffic arrangements across the city.
The first Randoli Perahera of the renowned Kandy Esala Perahera is set to commence tonight at 6:44 p.m., marking the beginning of the festival celebrations. The procession will follow a predetermined route through several key streets in Kandy, including Dalada Veediya, Temple Street, Deva Veediya, Colombo Street, Kotugodella Veediya, Cross Street, D.S. Senanayake Veediya, and Raja Veediya, before concluding at the premises of the Sri Dalada Maligawa.
In preparation for the event, authorities have implemented a comprehensive traffic management plan across Kandy. Police have designated alternative routes for motorists to facilitate smoother traffic flow during the procession period, allowing residents and visitors to navigate the city while the perahera proceeds through its designated path.
