Airport authorities have apprehended a 30-year-old passenger at Bandaranaike International Airport for attempting to bring in contraband cigarettes valued at approximately Rs. 6 million from Dubai.

A 30-year-old man has been arrested at Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake on suspicion of smuggling foreign-manufactured cigarettes into Sri Lanka. According to the Airport Police Narcotics Bureau, the suspect arrived in the country from Dubai with a concealed consignment of cigarettes in his luggage.

The seized cigarettes are estimated to be worth approximately Rs. 6 million. The arrest was carried out by officers from the Airport Police Narcotics Bureau during routine screening procedures at the airport.
