Sri Lanka's official foreign reserves increased marginally to USD 6.59 billion in July, marking a 2% rise from the previous month, according to the Central Bank.

Sri Lanka's total official foreign reserves reached USD 6.591 billion by the end of July, reflecting a modest expansion in the country's external financial position. The Central Bank of Sri Lanka reported that this figure represented a 2.017% increase compared to June, when reserves stood at USD 6.458 million.

The month-on-month gain of USD 133 million signals a gradual strengthening of the island nation's foreign currency buffers. This increase comes as the country continues its economic recovery following earlier fiscal challenges that had pressured reserve levels.

Gold holdings also registered growth during the same period, climbing by USD 1 million to reach USD 192 million in July from USD 191 million in June. While the increase in precious metal reserves was modest, it complemented the broader improvement in the country's overall reserve position.
