The Petroleum Distributors' Association will inaugurate its Western Province branch tomorrow, aimed at addressing unresolved grievances with the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation and advocating for petroleum distributors in the country's most concentrated distribution hub.

The Petroleum Distributors' Association will formally launch its Western Province branch on 9 January, marking a significant expansion of the organization's regional presence. The association prioritized establishing this branch due to the Western Province hosting the highest concentration of petroleum distributors nationwide, according to a statement from the organization.

The new branch is intended to serve as a platform for addressing longstanding concerns affecting petroleum distributors in the region. The association has indicated that the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has not adequately resolved various issues faced by its members, prompting the need for a dedicated regional body to advocate for their interests and seek viable solutions.

This development follows the association's broader effort to establish a nationwide network of branches. Regional branches currently operate across most districts throughout the country, though efforts remain incomplete. According to the Petroleum Distributors' Association, branches have not yet been established in Kurunegala and Jaffna districts. The organization stated that future initiatives will focus on extending coverage to these remaining areas to ensure comprehensive representation across all regions.
