Sri Lanka Cricket has named Hashan Tillakaratne as the batting coach for the senior men's program, effective August 20, 2026. The former international player and World Cup winner brings extensive coaching experience across multiple teams and formats.
Sri Lanka Cricket announced on August 21 the appointment of Hashan Tillakaratne to the position of Batting Coach for the Senior Men's Program. Based at the National High Performance Center, Tillakaratne will work directly with national team players as part of the broader coaching setup. His contract runs from August 20, 2026, through December 31, 2027.
Tillakaratne is a decorated figure in Sri Lankan cricket circles. He represented his country from 1989 to 2003, accumulating 83 Test matches and 200 One Day Internationals. Over his playing career, he scored more than 8,200 international runs across both formats and was part of a World Cup-winning squad.
In his coaching career, Tillakaratne has held several prominent roles. He previously served as the batting coach for Sri Lanka's men's national team and later as head coach of the women's team. His experience extends internationally as well, having served as head coach of the Bangladesh Women's National Team. This latest appointment represents a return to his former position within Sri Lanka's men's program structure.
