A Sri Lanka Navy lifesaving team rescued a woman who fell into the Diyawanna Oya near Battaramulla on Sunday. The woman was transported to hospital for medical care following the incident.

A 59-year-old woman was rescued from the Diyawanna Oya on Sunday after falling into the waterway in the Sandun Uyana area of Battaramulla. The incident took place near Kimbulawala along the Japan-Sri Lanka Friendship Road, according to the Sri Lanka Navy.

A lifesaving team from the Navy's Rapid Action Boat Squadron, which was conducting security operations in the area, identified the woman struggling in the water and responded immediately. The team successfully retrieved the woman from the water and brought her safely to shore.

The woman, identified as a resident of Nugegoda, was subsequently transferred to Colombo National Hospital for medical evaluation and treatment. No further details regarding the circumstances of the fall or her condition have been disclosed.
