Following devastating flash floods in Nepal's Rasuwa area, authorities have confirmed that no Sri Lankan nationals are among those reported missing, though over 600 people from dozens of countries remain unaccounted for.
The Nepal Tourism Board has released an updated assessment of missing persons following flash floods that struck the Rasuwa district, with no Sri Lankan nationals identified among those unaccounted for. The total number of missing stands at 644 individuals, comprising 517 foreign nationals representing 32 countries and 127 Nepalese citizens.
Indian nationals represent the largest group of missing foreigners, with 178 reported missing. The casualties are distributed across numerous countries, including 65 Americans, 53 Ukrainians, 51 Malaysians, and 35 Australians. British nationals number 33 among the missing, while 25 Canadians remain unaccounted for. Additional significant numbers include nine Singaporeans, eight Germans, and eight Russians.
The affected nationalities extend across Europe, Asia, Africa and Oceania, with smaller numbers from countries including Japan, New Zealand, France, Belgium, Spain, Italy, and Ireland. Single individuals from Belarus, Bulgaria, Finland, Hungary, Israel, Lithuania, the Philippines, Serbia, Sweden, and Switzerland are also listed as missing in the disaster.
According to the tourism board's statement, search and rescue operations continue with involvement from security forces and relief teams working to locate the missing persons and provide assistance to those affected by the natural disaster.
