The Engineering Division of Pettah Central Bus Stand was officially inaugurated on Tuesday with new facilities aimed at improving bus maintenance and service reliability across Sri Lanka's public transport network.
The Pettah Central Bus Stand's Engineering Division was formally opened on Tuesday with enhanced infrastructure and modernized maintenance facilities. The project was executed as part of the broader "Clean Sri Lanka" National Program, with the Sri Lanka Air Force providing both labor and technical expertise to support the initiative.
Deputy Minister of Transport Prasanna Gunasena outlined the objectives of the upgraded division, which include establishing a safer and more hygienic workplace for engineering personnel, improving infrastructure for systematic bus maintenance procedures, and modernizing inspection and servicing facilities. The initiative aims to strengthen the readiness and dependability of bus operations while ensuring passengers receive consistent, quality transport services.
According to the Deputy Minister, the project demonstrates effective cooperation between state institutions, with the Sri Lanka Air Force's contribution being instrumental in delivering the facility efficiently. Officials anticipate that the enhanced engineering division will lead to improved overall reliability of bus operations and provide commuters with a more dependable public transport experience.
