Sri Lanka's Police Headquarters has restored its computerized clearance certificate system following a failure on August 20 and is asking affected applicants to submit new applications.
The Police Headquarters announced that its online Police Clearance Certificate system experienced a technical failure on August 20, becoming inactive at 12:50 p.m. that day. The disruption affected all applications submitted through the system during that period, according to the Police Media Division.
Following the system malfunction, all clearance data from applications submitted on August 20 was removed from the database. The Police Media Division has therefore requested that individuals who applied on that date resubmit their applications now that the system has been restored and is operating normally.
To address the inconvenience caused by the technical issue, applicants will receive refunds of the 5,100 rupee fee charged for their initial applications. These refunds will be processed back to the credit cards used for the original payments. Once new applications are submitted, Police Clearance Certificates will be issued following the collection of relevant reports by the relevant authorities.
The restoration of the online application system means that Police Clearance Certificate applications can now be processed through the standard digital channels as usual.
