A woman and man lost their lives following a collision between a motorcycle and three-wheeler on Anagarika Dharmapala Mawatha in Galle on the morning of the 27th.
A fatal road accident in the Ambalanwatta area of Galle claimed two lives on the morning of the 27th when a motorcycle and three-wheeler collided on Anagarika Dharmapala Mawatha. The incident occurred as the motorcycle, traveling from Karapitiya towards Ambalanwatte, lost control and toppled onto the roadway. The three-wheeler, which was moving in the opposite direction, subsequently struck both the motorcycle and a nearby electricity pole.
The female passenger in the three-wheeler died at the scene after the vehicle overturned from the impact. The motorcyclist, who sustained severe injuries in the initial fall, was transported to Galle National Hospital but died while undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit.
The victims have been identified as a 59-year-old woman from the Kanampitiya area and a 49-year-old man from Heenpandala. Galle Traffic Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
