Sri Lanka Police have rejected allegations circulating on social media that an LTTE training camp and bomb factory were operating in Pallai, saying investigations found no evidence of terrorist activities at the location.

Sri Lanka Police have categorically denied claims that surfaced on social media regarding the operation of an LTTE training camp and explosives manufacturing facility in the Pallai area. The allegations emerged following a video in which an individual asserted that a three-storey structure had been built on cleared forest land and was being used for both terrorist training and bomb production.

Following the video's circulation, authorities identified the location as a site in Mukkampan, Kannagipuram West, within the Akkarayankulam Police Division. The Senior Superintendent of Police for Kilinochchi and the Terrorism Investigation Division subsequently conducted investigations at the premises. According to police findings, no explosives, illegal substances, or bombs were discovered at the location, nor was there evidence of LTTE-related activities or combat training operations.

While clearing the terrorism allegations, police did identify unlawful activities at the site, including illegal forest clearing and unauthorised asset acquisition. Investigations into these matters are ongoing. The individual credited with producing and disseminating the video was arrested by the Terrorism Investigation Division on August 18. The 46-year-old suspect, identified as a resident of Bellanwila in Boralesgamuwa, was accused of spreading unverified information through both video and a media briefing. He was remanded in custody until September 2 following his appearance before the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court.
