Sri Lanka's Customs authority has confiscated over 396 kilograms of illegal drugs valued at approximately Rs. 4.5 billion through 55 enforcement operations since October 2025.
Sri Lanka Customs has intensified its drug enforcement efforts, seizing more than 396 kilograms of narcotics with an estimated street value of Rs. 4.5 billion across 55 separate operations conducted between late October 2025 and July 2026, according to Customs Spokesman Chandana Punchihewa.
The confiscated substances encompass a range of illicit drugs, including Kush, cannabis, cocaine, and methamphetamine, commonly referred to as Ice. The seizures represent a significant crackdown on drug trafficking routes entering the country during the nine-month period.
Activity levels have remained consistent in recent months, with five additional drug busts carried out during July 2026 alone, resulting in the seizure of 25.4 kilograms of various narcotics. Punchihewa provided these figures during a statement on Wednesday, highlighting the ongoing nature of Customs operations against drug smuggling.
The enforcement actions underscore Sri Lanka's continued commitment to combating the narcotics trade, with Customs maintaining regular detection and interception operations at ports and borders.
