SriLankan Airlines has launched an advertising campaign in Mumbai to attract Indian cricket enthusiasts to Sri Lanka during the upcoming two-Test series between India and Sri Lanka scheduled for August and September.
SriLankan Airlines has rolled out a promotional campaign across Mumbai designed to capitalize on the upcoming cricket tour and encourage Indian visitors to combine watching Test matches with a holiday in Sri Lanka. The airline has positioned the initiative as an opportunity to appeal to cricket fans in a market it considers strategically important for tourism growth.
The campaign features LED billboards placed at high-traffic locations including Kings Circle, BKC T Junction, Chembur, and SCLR, timed to reach commuters during peak travel periods. According to SriLankan Airlines, the advertisements promote Sri Lanka not solely as a cricket destination but as a comprehensive holiday package, highlighting the country's beaches, heritage sites, and cultural offerings.
The India cricket tour comprises a three-day warm-up match at the NCC Grounds in Colombo from August 7 to 9, followed by two Test matches. The first Test will be hosted at the Galle International Cricket Stadium from August 15 to 19, with the second Test scheduled at the SSC Grounds in Colombo from August 23 to 27. The airline expects the shared enthusiasm for cricket between the two nations will drive significant travel interest during this period.
The company describes the campaign as part of its broader strategy to strengthen its commercial footprint in the Indian market while positioning Sri Lanka as a destination for sports and leisure tourism combined. By linking air travel with cricket and tourism experiences, SriLankan Airlines aims to capture demand from Indian travelers seeking both sporting entertainment and vacation opportunities.
