A teenager has died from injuries sustained in a collision between a motorcycle and a bus on the Ahasyanapitiya Road in Mawathagama, with police launching an investigation into the incident.
A 17-year-old resident of Mawathagama has died following a road accident involving a motorcycle and a bus on the Ahasyanapitiya Road in the area. According to police, the collision occurred in front of a community hall when the motorcycle, travelling towards Ahasyanapitiya, struck a bus moving in the opposite direction.
The teenager sustained critical injuries in the impact and was initially taken to Mawathagama Hospital. Given the severity of the injuries, the youth was subsequently transferred to Kurunegala Hospital for advanced medical care, where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
A passenger who was riding with the motorcyclist was also injured in the accident and received medical treatment. Mawathagama Police have begun investigations into the circumstances surrounding the collision as authorities seek to determine the exact cause of the incident.
