Police are investigating a suspect who allegedly stole items from a Colombo hotel after impersonating a private bank officer, with investigations suggesting similar crimes across multiple areas.

Authorities in the Kompannavidiya Police division have launched a manhunt for a suspect accused of theft at a prominent Colombo hotel on August 3rd. According to police reports, the man gained access to the hotel by presenting himself as an officer employed by a private banking institution.

The suspect's method involved contacting hotel staff and claiming that a group would be arriving for a dinner function. He subsequently placed a substantial order for food and beverages, which kept hotel personnel occupied with preparations. Police allege that during this period of distraction, the suspect took the opportunity to steal multiple items from the premises before departing.

Investigations conducted by Kompannavidiya Police have indicated that this individual may be responsible for additional thefts in other areas of Colombo. Similar incidents are believed to have occurred in the Cinnamon Gardens, Peliyagoda, and Nugegoda police divisions, suggesting a pattern of coordinated criminal activity across multiple locations.

In an effort to apprehend the suspect, police have released a photograph and are appealing to the public for assistance.
