Police have apprehended a man suspected of involvement in a shooting incident that occurred in Minuwangoda in August. The arrest followed an active investigation into the murder case.

Authorities in the Minuwangoda Police Division have arrested a suspect connected to a shooting and murder that took place on August 13, 2025. The 35-year-old man, a resident of the Minuwangoda area, was taken into custody on the night of August 21 in the Galoluwa locality following investigative work by police officers.

According to police statements, the suspect is believed to have served as the motorcycle rider during the commission of the crime. At the time of arrest, officers discovered 11 grams and 150 milligrams of crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as 'Ice', in his possession.

The Minuwangoda Police Division continues its investigation into the incident and has not yet released additional details regarding the circumstances of the shooting or the identity of other potential suspects or victims involved in the case.
