The veteran Sri Lankan singer Visharad Dr. Nanda Malini was laid to rest on Tuesday with religious ceremonies conducted at her music academy in Nugegoda.

Funeral rites for the late Visharad Dr. Nanda Malini, a prominent figure in Sri Lankan classical music, took place on Tuesday morning at the Nanda Malini Sangeetha Ashramaya in Nugegoda. Members of the Maha Sangha performed the Pansukula religious ceremony at approximately 10:00 a.m. at the music academy located on Nawala Road.

Following the completion of religious observances, members of the public were given an opportunity to pay their respects to the late singer until 3:30 p.m. The funeral procession subsequently traveled to the General Cemetery in Borella, where the cremation ceremony was scheduled for 5:00 p.m. the same day.

Visharad Nanda Malini established the Nanda Malini Sangeetha Ashramaya, which served as both her residence and a center for musical education and practice throughout her career.
